A unique identifier for the instrument. It is derived by combining a 4 letter abbreviation of the instrument name with a 4 letter abbreviation of the makers name and adding a sequence number (i.e. -01 the first instrument entered for that maker, -02 the second and so on). |

The name of the type of instrument i.e. Hautboy, Oboe d'amore etc. It is called "name" because instrument "type" is needed for the Halfpenny/Haynes/Adkins typing system in the next column. |

In Haynes [2001] on page 94 a scheme is offered in place of the usual a=someting pitch definition as that type of precise pitch designation is impossible to ascertain with regards to Hautboys. In its place is offered the following categorization based on Acoustic Length (the distance from the top of the instrument to the middle of hole 6). These are as follows: |
