Column Label | Meaning |
Measurement ID | A unique identifier for the measurement of which this tone hole data is part. |
Joint Type | The joint (head, middle, bell) where the tone hole in question is located |
Hole ID | An identifier for the hole being measured |
Reference |
What the distance (length) is measured in relation to
e.g. joint bottom, joint top or, conceivably, other tone holes |
Distance from edge | The distance the edge of the tone hole nearest the reference (i.e. top, tenon or bottom) to the reference. |
Distance from center | The distance the center of the tone hole to the reference (i.e. top, tenon or bottom). |
y Hole Diameter | the diameter of the tone hole along the axis of the joint |
x Hole Diameter | the diameter of the tone hole across the axis of the joint |
µ | hole diameters where they emerge into the bore |
Surface y Hole Diameter |
If the tone hole has a different size on the surface than further inside,
this is the is the diameter of the surface opening along the axis of the joint |
Surface x Hole Diameter |
if the tone hole has a different size on the surface than further inside,
this is the is the diameter of the surface opening across the axis of the joint |
Bore Diameter | This is the bore diameter under the tone hole center along the axis of the tone hole |
(External) Body Diameter |
This is the exterior diameter of the joint at the tone hole center |
Hole Depth |
This is the depth of the tone hole
(if not measured directly, is derived from Bore Diameter and Body Diameter) It is not the length of the tone hole but rather it is the distance from the tone hole openning to the bore surface along the axis at right angles to the bore axis. |
