An early clarinet from the collection of Professor Lawrence McDonald, on display in the Smithsonian Institution, serves as the model for this replica. The original, in fine, easily measured condition, is seven-keyed, however consistent with historical practice keys may be added at any time. The replica is pitched at A=430, and is made of stained, oil-finished boxwood and supplied with brass keywork.
When you order an instrument, in consultation with you I select a mouthpiece that best fits your needs from a broad range of designs that I make. Customers are encouraged, when possible, to visit my shop where we can experiment with mouthpieces and can adjust keywork for proper fit.
Clarinets are available in A, Bb, and C
